CONFIRMATION
Confirmation Information
Confirmation is a significant sacrament in the Catholic Church, a moment when baptized individuals, typically in their adolescence, receive the fullness of the Holy Spirit's gifts. It's considered the completion of baptismal grace, strengthening the recipient's connection to the Church and empowering them to live as mature Christians. Through the laying on of hands by the bishop or a designated priest, and the anointing with sacred chrism, the confirmandi are marked with the seal of the Holy Spirit, signifying their deepened commitment to Christ.
This sacrament is not merely a ritual; it's a transformative experience. During preparation for Confirmation, candidates engage in a period of study, prayer, and reflection, deepening their understanding of the Catholic faith and their personal relationship with God. They learn about the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit—wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord—and how these gifts can guide them in their daily lives. Confirmation equips individuals to be active witnesses to Christ, to participate more fully in the life of the Church, and to embrace their role in spreading the Gospel. It's a call to live a life of faith, guided by the Holy Spirit, and to contribute to the building of God's kingdom on earth.
