ANOINTING OF THE SICK
About Us
The Anointing of the Sick is a sacrament of healing and strength, offered by the Church to those who are seriously ill, elderly, or facing a major health challenge. It's a powerful expression of God's love and compassion, aimed at providing spiritual and sometimes even physical comfort during times of vulnerability. It is important that this sacrament isn't given at the last minute. If you think a person's condition could change in the next few months, schedule an appointment right away!
In this sacrament, a priest anoints the sick person with holy oil, specifically blessed for this purpose, while reciting prayers that ask for God's grace, healing, and forgiveness. It's not exclusively for those nearing death, but rather for anyone whose health is significantly compromised. The Anointing of the Sick offers several benefits: it can provide spiritual strength, peace, and courage to endure suffering; it can unite the sick person more closely to Christ's suffering; and it can even, if it is God's will, bring about physical healing. Ultimately, it's a reminder that even in times of illness, God's love and presence are with us, offering hope and comfort.
